# Trimble R8s / R6

These steps connect a Trimble R8s / R6 to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using Trimble Access. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* Trimble Access.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Get the controller online and connected to the receiver: On your TSC7/TSC5, make sure Trimble Access has working internet (controller SIM, Wi-Fi hotspot, or tethered phone). Power on the R8s / R6 and confirm the controller is paired/connected (Bluetooth or cable). Corrections come over the controller's internet, so a stable data connection is essential.
2. Open the RTK survey style for editing: From the main menu tap Settings, then Survey styles. Select your RTK style (or create one based on RTK) and tap Edit.
3. Set the rover data link to an internet connection: Open Rover data link and set Type to Internet connection (older versions: 'Internet rover'). This takes corrections over the controller's internet rather than a radio.
4. Open the GNSS correction source: On Rover data link, tap the button/arrow next to GNSS correction source. Select an existing source or tap New to create one - where the caster (NTRIP) details are entered.
5. Turn on NTRIP: In the correction source, set Use NTRIP to Yes. Leave Use RTX (internet) set to No. If 'Use NTRIP v1.0' is shown, leave it unticked unless told otherwise.
6. Enter the caster address and port: In IP Address enter rtkpremium.xyz and in IP port enter 2101 (fixed for all customers). On some versions the field is 'Server'/'Address' - use the host/port fields for the caster.
7. Enter YOUR NTRIP username and password: In the NTRIP username and NTRIP password fields, enter the credentials from your welcome email - unique to your account; do not use anyone else's.
8. Set the mountpoint to COMMON: In Mountpoint name enter COMMON. To be prompted at survey start instead, leave it blank and pick COMMON from the source list later. If your version has a 'Connect directly to Mountpoint' switch, set it to Yes to skip the prompt.
9. Choose the internet source and save: Set the GNSS internet source field to Controller internet. Tap Accept to save the correction source, then Accept / Store to save the style. The save button wording (Accept/Store/Save) varies slightly by version.
10. Start the RTK survey: From the main menu tap Measure (or Stakeout), select your RTK style if asked, then choose e.g. Measure points. If the style is set to prompt, select the correction source you created.
11. Confirm the mountpoint and let it connect: If prompted for a mountpoint, select COMMON. Trimble Access shows 'Connecting to GNSS internet source' and the GNSS internet source icon appears in the status bar once connected.
12. Wait for a fixed solution (RTK:Fixed): With corrections flowing and enough satellites, the rover initialises on-the-fly. Watch the status line until it reports RTK:Fixed (cm-accurate), then start measuring. If it stays Float, check sky view, internet signal, and that the mountpoint/credentials are correct.

### If the fix will not hold

Menu/field names follow recent Trimble Access on the TSC7/TSC5; on older versions some labels differ slightly (the data link 'Type', the final save button) - match by meaning. Same workflow as other Trimble Access receivers.
