# Trimble R12i

These steps connect a Trimble R12i to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using Trimble Access. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* Trimble Access.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Power on and connect the receiver: Mount the R12i on your pole, power it on, and pair it to the controller (TSC7/TSC5) over Bluetooth or cable. Confirm it's connected in Trimble Access. Make sure the controller has working internet (SIM data or Wi-Fi), as corrections are delivered over the internet.
2. Open the survey style settings: From the main menu, go to Settings > Survey styles, select the RTK style you use for internet corrections, then tap Edit. If you don't have a suitable style, create a new one of type RTK. (Wording varies slightly by version - match the closest equivalent.)
3. Configure the rover data link as an internet connection: In the survey style, open Rover data link and set the Type field to Internet connection - so corrections come over the internet rather than a radio.
4. Set the GNSS internet source to Controller internet: Open the GNSS internet source option and select Controller internet so the controller's own SIM/Wi-Fi carries the corrections. (Receiver internet also exists; Controller internet is simplest for most setups.)
5. Open the GNSS correction source and enable NTRIP: Open the GNSS correction source for the rover and set Use NTRIP to Yes. Leave Use NTRIP v1.0 unticked unless you have a specific reason to use v1.0.
6. Enter the caster address and port: In the IP Address field enter rtkpremium.xyz and in the IP Port field enter 2101 - the same for every customer.
7. Enter your NTRIP username and password: In the NTRIP username and password fields, enter YOUR OWN credentials from your welcome email - unique to your account; Premium Positioning will never provide them inside the device. If you can't find them, contact support.
8. Select the COMMON mountpoint: Set the mountpoint to COMMON - type it directly (e.g. via 'Connect directly to Mountpoint') or, if the style prompts you at survey start, pick COMMON from the source table the caster returns.
9. Save the survey style: Tap Store (or Accept/Save, by version) to save your changes so you don't re-enter the caster details next time.
10. Start the survey: From the main menu choose Measure (or Measure points), then select this RTK internet style. Trimble Access establishes the internet connection - you may briefly see 'Connecting to GNSS internet source'. If prompted, confirm the correction source and COMMON mountpoint.
11. Confirm the corrections link is live: On success, the GNSS internet source icon appears in the status bar, confirming correction data is streaming. If it fails, recheck host, port, mountpoint, and your username/password.
12. Align the IMU for tilt compensation: The R12i has IMU tilt compensation - align the IMU when prompted, typically by walking a few metres and/or gently rotating the pole as the on-screen guidance indicates. Alignment usually completes in a few seconds and re-aligns automatically during normal movement, letting you measure tilted without levelling the bubble.
13. Confirm RTK:Fixed before measuring: Wait for the solution status to show RTK:Fixed (cm-level). Only store points once you have RTK:Fixed and, for tilted measurements, a valid IMU alignment. If it stays Float, give it time with clear sky or re-check the correction connection.

### If the fix will not hold

The COMMON mountpoint is a network (VRS-style) source, so you need clear sky and a working data connection for a Fixed solution. Menu/button names differ slightly across Trimble Access versions and between TSC7 and TSC5 - match the closest equivalent.
