SW Maps (Android)
These steps connect a SW Maps (Android) to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using SW Maps app. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.
Before you start
Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
SW Maps app.
A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.
Network settings
These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.
Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
Port: 2101
Mountpoint: COMMON
Protocol: NTRIP
Steps
Install SW Maps and gather your details: Install SW Maps (by Softwel) from Google Play. Have your Premium Positioning NTRIP username/password ready. SW Maps is a free, brand-agnostic app that works with most Bluetooth GNSS receivers (Emlid, ArduSimple/u-blox ZED-F9P, SparkFun, and many commercial receivers).
Power on and pair your receiver: Turn on your receiver and put it in Bluetooth pairing mode per its manual. In Android Settings > Bluetooth, scan and pair the receiver once (some ask for a PIN such as 0000 or 1234). SW Maps connects to the already-paired device.
Open the side menu in SW Maps: Launch SW Maps, create/open a project if prompted, and tap the menu icon (three lines) at top-left - this is where connection options live. Wording varies slightly by version.
Open Bluetooth GNSS Connection: In the side menu tap 'Bluetooth GNSS' (sometimes 'Connect Instrument', or a Bluetooth icon in the toolbar) to open the receiver-connection screen.
Select your receiver and set instrument details: Choose your receiver from the paired list. Set 'Instrument Model' to match, or pick a generic option ('Generic NMEA' / 'Generic RTK Receiver'). Enter 'Instrument Height' (pole/tripod height incl. antenna offset). Tap 'CONNECT'.
Confirm the receiver is streaming: The status bar should show live coordinates and satellite counts from the external receiver (metre-level before corrections). If you still see phone-GPS accuracy, recheck the Bluetooth selection and instrument model.
Open the NTRIP Client: Open the side menu and tap 'NTRIP Client' ('NTRIP Connection' in some versions).
Add a new NTRIP profile: Tap 'Add New Profile' or '+' and name it (e.g. 'Premium Positioning'). A saved profile lets you reconnect quickly next time.
Enter the caster address and port: 'NTRIP Caster Address': rtkpremium.xyz - 'NTRIP Port': 2101. Leave the protocol as NTRIP (NTRIP v1) - SW Maps connects over NTRIP by default.
Enter YOUR username and password: In 'User Name' and 'Password' enter the personal NTRIP credentials from your welcome email - unique to your account. If login fails, check for stray spaces or capitalisation.
Fetch and select the mountpoint: Tap the mountpoint field (or a fetch/refresh/dropdown control) so SW Maps loads the mountpoint list, then select 'COMMON'. If it doesn't load, double-check address, port, username and password and retry.
Turn on Send NMEA GGA to Caster: Enable 'Send NMEA GGA to NTRIP Caster' - this sends your approximate position to the network so it can compute corrections. Leaving it off can keep you stuck on FLOAT.
Connect to the caster: Tap 'CONNECT' (or 'Start'). The received-bytes/data counter should increase, confirming corrections are flowing from rtkpremium.xyz to your receiver.
Confirm an RTK FIXED solution: Open the side menu and tap 'GNSS Status' (or 'Skyplot') to watch the fix type move Single/DGPS → RTK Float → RTK Fixed, with accuracy ~1 - 3 cm. The location marker also turns green at a fix. You're ready to collect points.
If the fix will not hold
SW Maps is brand-agnostic and works with most Bluetooth GNSS receivers. Menu/field names vary slightly between versions/devices - if something is worded differently, find the equivalent ('NTRIP Client' vs 'NTRIP Connection', 'CONNECT' vs 'Start'). Your username/password are personal and typed into the app only. A clear sky view and stable mobile data give the fastest, most reliable fix.
