# SparkFun RTK

These steps connect a SparkFun RTK (Facet / Express+ / Torch) to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using Built-in NTRIP Client (WiFi web config) or SW Maps. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* Built-in NTRIP Client (WiFi web config) or SW Maps.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Decide your correction path: SparkFun RTK units pull corrections two ways: (A) the receiver's own built-in NTRIP Client over its WiFi web config page; or (B) feed corrections from a phone app such as SW Maps over Bluetooth. Path A suits reliable on-site WiFi; Path B suits the field with a phone hotspot. Steps 2-6 cover Path A; steps 7-10 cover Path B.
2. Path A - Power on and enter Config (WiFi) mode: Turn the unit on. Reaching Config mode depends on the model: RTK Torch - double-tap the Power button within 1 second (two beeps); RTK EVK - click the Mode button to highlight 'Config', then double-click; RTK Express+/Facet - use the Setup/power button to step to 'Config' / 'WiFi Config' on the display. Wording varies by firmware. The unit then broadcasts a WiFi network named 'RTK Config'.
3. Path A - Open the web config page: On your phone or laptop, join the 'RTK Config' WiFi network the receiver broadcasts. Open a browser (Chrome works best) to rtk.local. If that doesn't load, use the config IP shown on the receiver's display.
4. Path A - Connect the receiver to your local WiFi: In the web config, open the WiFi section and enter your local WiFi SSID and password (this is the internet the receiver uses to reach our caster - not the caster login). You can add fallback networks.
5. Path A - Enable the NTRIP Client and enter caster settings: Find the NTRIP Client section (under corrections/GNSS configuration; tab name varies by firmware) and enable it. Enter Caster Host rtkpremium.xyz, Caster Port 2101, Mountpoint COMMON. Protocol is NTRIP. Match by meaning if labels differ: host/address, port, mount point.
6. Path A - Enter YOUR caster username and password: Enter the NTRIP username and password from your welcome email into Caster User and Caster User PW (sometimes user/account name and password) - unique to your account; do not use anyone else's. Save; the unit exits Config and starts connecting.
7. Path A - Confirm corrections are flowing: The receiver joins your WiFi, then the caster. On units with a display the WiFi icon stops blinking and the solution should reach RTK Fix within \~30 s under clear sky. If it keeps retrying, recheck the WiFi SSID/password and your caster credentials. Skip the SW Maps steps below.
8. Path B - Pair the receiver over Bluetooth: Power on and note the four-character code on the display (last four of its MAC). In your phone's Bluetooth settings, pair the device whose name matches, e.g. 'Facet Rover-XXXX' or 'Torch Rover-XXXX'.
9. Path B - Connect in SW Maps: Open SW Maps > New Project. Open the menu (top-left) > 'Bluetooth GNSS'. Pick your RTK unit (instrument model 'SparkFun RTK') and press 'Connect'. Confirm it's connected.
10. Path B - Configure the NTRIP Client in SW Maps: Open the menu > 'NTRIP Client'. Enter address rtkpremium.xyz, Port 2101, Mountpoint COMMON, and YOUR welcome-email username/password. Enable 'Send NMEA GGA' (the caster needs your approximate position), then Connect.
11. Confirm RTK Fix: Watch the receiver display: a basic 3D solution → blinking cross-hair (RTK Float) → solid double cross-hair (RTK Fix). On display-less units (Torch), a solid/white status LED indicates RTK Fix. In SW Maps the fix type reads 'RTK Fixed' (\~10 - 20 mm). If you stay on Float, check sky view and the correction connection.

### If the fix will not hold

SparkFun RTK models span two firmware families - RTK Express+/Facet (older 'RTK Firmware', u-blox ZED-F9P) and RTK Torch/EVK (newer 'RTK Everywhere Firmware', includes mosaic-X5) - so on-screen wording and menu layout vary by model and firmware; match fields by meaning (host, port, mount point, user, password). The standard NTRIP port is almost always 2101. Both paths give the same result.
