# Sokkia GCX3 / GCX2

These steps connect a Sokkia GCX3 / GCX2 to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using MAGNET Field. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* MAGNET Field.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Power up and pair the receiver: Switch on the GCX3/GCX2 and your controller. In MAGNET Field the receiver normally connects over Bluetooth (some controllers use a cable). If not already paired, pair them via the controller's Bluetooth settings first.
2. Open Configure > Survey: From the main screen tap Configure, then the Survey icon, to open the survey configuration list (GPS+ and Total Stations).
3. Create a new configuration: Tap Add for a new configuration (or Edit an existing Network RTK config). Name it e.g. 'PP Network RTK'. Set Type to 'Network RTK'. 'Corrections' can stay at its default (e.g. VRS) for our single COMMON mount point.
4. Set the receiver make: On Receiver Make / Manufacturer set Manufacturer to 'Topcon' (the GCX3/GCX2 use the Topcon/Sokkia profile in MAGNET). Leave Simulation Mode and Post Processing unchecked. Tap Next.
5. Configure the Rover Receiver: On Rover Receiver: keep 'Ext. Receiver' on your connection (e.g. Bluetooth), set Receiver Model to your unit (GCX3 or GCX2 - pick the closest listed), set an Elevation Mask (10 - 13 deg typical), and set Antenna to match. Tap Next.
6. Select NTRIP as the protocol: In the rover/correction settings set Protocol to 'NTRIP', so MAGNET receives corrections from a caster over the internet rather than a UHF radio.
7. Set the data connection (Modem Connect): On 'Config: Modem Connect' set Modem Connect to 'Controller' (sometimes 'Controller Internet' / 'Data Collector Internet') to route the internet through the controller's SIM/Wi-Fi. (Choose 'Receiver' only if using a SIM inside the receiver.) Tap Next.
8. Enter the caster address and port: On 'Config: Modem Internet Info', in Address enter the caster as host:port - rtkpremium.xyz:2101. Tap Add new, set the selector to 'Web' (host name) not 'IP', and ensure the new entry is selected. Tap Next. (Host: rtkpremium.xyz, Port: 2101.)
9. Enter YOUR NTRIP username and password: On 'Config: Login Info', enter the NTRIP User ID and Password from your welcome email - unique to your account; do not share them. Tap Next.
10. Select the COMMON mount point: MAGNET requests the caster's source table when it connects. When prompted to choose a mount point, select COMMON. The label/timing varies by version - on some there's a dropdown or 'Get/Request source table' on the internet screen; on others the table appears when you start the survey. Either way, pick COMMON. (Mount point: COMMON, Protocol: NTRIP.)
11. Set the survey parameters: Continue through Topo Survey / Stake. Set Solution to 'Fixed Only' so points store only on a fixed solution. Adjust tolerances as needed, then continue. On Advanced, GPS+GLONASS (or all constellations) and 'Automatic Detection' for base make are sensible.
12. Finish and save the configuration: Step through Miscellaneous ('Auto-connect to server' is handy) and tap the green check to save. Return to the list with your new config; tap the green check again to make it the active configuration.
13. Connect and start the survey: Start the survey (Survey > Topo, or Connect). MAGNET dials the caster, authenticates, and streams corrections from COMMON. The data-link/age-of-corrections indicator becomes active.
14. Confirm a Fixed solution: Watch the solution status go Autonomous/Standalone → Float → Fixed. Once 'Fixed' with low HRMS/VRMS, you're connected and can survey or stake. If it stalls at Float, recheck your credentials, rtkpremium.xyz:2101, the COMMON mount point, and your internet signal.

### If the fix will not hold

The GCX3 and GCX2 use the Topcon/Sokkia profile in MAGNET Field, so screens are essentially identical for both. Menu/button labels (how the mount point/source table is selected, 'Controller' vs 'Controller Internet') vary between MAGNET versions - follow the equivalent option.
