# Septentrio Altus NR3

These steps connect a Septentrio Altus NR3 to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using Built-in NTRIP client (web UI) or a paired Android/iOS field app. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* Built-in NTRIP client (web UI) or a paired Android/iOS field app.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Have your credentials ready: You'll need the NTRIP username and password from your Premium Positioning welcome email - unique to your account.
2. Power on and pick your path: Power up the Altus NR3 and wait for satellite tracking. Two common paths: (A) the receiver's built-in NTRIP client via its web interface, or (B) a paired Android/iOS field app (e.g. Carlson SurvCE/SurvPC, or a generic NTRIP/GIS app) over Bluetooth. Both are covered below.
3. Path A - connect to the web interface: Connect your phone/laptop to the receiver's Wi-Fi access point (SSID is usually the serial/model name; see the label for the password). Open a browser to <http://192.168.20.1> (Wi-Fi) or <http://192.168.3.1> (USB/Ethernet). The IP can vary by firmware - check your quick guide if neither loads.
4. Path A - set the receiver as an RTK rover: In the web interface confirm the receiver is in rover mode with RTK enabled - NTRIP corrections won't promote to RTK Fixed otherwise.
5. Path A - open the NTRIP client: Go to the Corrections menu and select NTRIP (on some firmware this is under Communication), then click New NTRIP client. Wording varies by firmware - look for the NTRIP / corrections-input section.
6. Path A - enter the caster and port: Set the caster Host/Server to rtkpremium.xyz and Port to 2101. Ensure the mode/type is NTRIP client.
7. Path A - enter your credentials: Type YOUR NTRIP Username and Password from the welcome email. Watch for stray spaces or typos - the most common cause of a failed connection.
8. Path A - select the mountpoint: With the caster details correct, the receiver retrieves the source table. Choose mountpoint COMMON, then OK / Apply. Tip: enable 'save to boot' so it auto-reconnects after power-cycles.
9. Path B - connect the field app over Bluetooth: In your field app, pair with the Altus NR3 over Bluetooth (in Carlson: Equip > GPS Rover > Comms tab > Bluetooth, then Find/select the NR3). Confirm it's configured as a rover with RTK on.
10. Path B - choose NTRIP as the correction source: On the rover RTK / correction settings, set the data link to your internet source (internal cellular/GSM or the phone's connection) and Network to NTRIP. Open the NTRIP settings dialog. Labels vary by app - the option you want is the NTRIP network correction source.
11. Path B - enter caster, port, credentials and mountpoint: Enter Host rtkpremium.xyz, Port 2101, your NTRIP Username/Password, protocol NTRIP. Load/refresh the source table and select COMMON, then save/connect. If no table loads, re-check host, port and internet.
12. Confirm you have RTK Fixed: Allow a few seconds for corrections to flow. In the web UI the NTRIP link shows active with incoming data and position mode reads RTK fixed. In a field app the status moves Autonomous/DGPS → Float → Fixed. Once you see RTK Fixed with cm accuracy, you're set.

### If the fix will not hold

Exact menu names, the Wi-Fi SSID/password, and the web-interface IP differ by firmware and field app - if a label doesn't match, look for the equivalent NTRIP/corrections option or check your unit's quick guide. If you can't get past Float to Fixed, verify credentials (watch for typos/spaces), confirm internet, and that the receiver is in rover mode with RTK enabled.
