# QField

These steps connect a QField (Android/iOS) to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using QField app. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* QField app.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Have your NTRIP login ready: You'll need the per-customer NTRIP username and password from your welcome email. Enter YOUR OWN credentials at the NTRIP step - do not use anyone else's. The caster details (host, port, mountpoint) are the same for all customers.
2. Pair the GNSS receiver to your phone/tablet: Power on your external receiver (e.g. u-blox/ArduSimple or Emlid). Android: pair the receiver in system Bluetooth settings before opening QField. iOS: many receivers connect over Wi-Fi/TCP instead (e.g. via ArduSimple's WiFi NTRIP Master) - connect your device to the receiver's Wi-Fi. Pairing names vary by receiver.
3. Open Positioning settings in QField: Tap the GNSS/position button (top-left), then the gear/settings icon, and go to Settings > Positioning. The Positioning section is consistent across recent versions, though icon styling varies.
4. Add your external receiver as the position source: Add your receiver to the saved positioning devices: choose your paired Bluetooth receiver, or for a network/Wi-Fi receiver add a TCP/UDP connection (enter the receiver's IP and port - e.g. 192.168.4.1 for an ArduSimple WiFi NTRIP Master). Save it.
5. Activate the receiver: Toggle the switch next to your saved receiver to make it the active position source. QField should show a position from the external receiver rather than the phone GPS.
6. Open the NTRIP / correction-data settings: Next to the active device's toggle, tap its settings/gear button and open the NTRIP (RTK correction) configuration ('NTRIP Service information'). Note: depending on receiver and version, the NTRIP client runs inside QField or must be configured on the receiver itself (or its companion app/web page, e.g. a WiFi NTRIP Master at 192.168.4.1). If you don't see NTRIP fields in QField, configure them on the receiver - the same caster values apply.
7. Enter the caster host and port: Set host/server to rtkpremium.xyz and port to 2101. Labels are commonly 'Host'/'Address' and 'Port'; wording varies slightly by version but these map to the caster address and its port.
8. Enter YOUR NTRIP username and password: Enter the NTRIP credentials from your welcome email - unique to your account; the guide cannot supply them.
9. Select the mountpoint: Set the mountpoint to COMMON. If QField (or your receiver) offers a 'Get/refresh source table' option, the list populates once host/port/credentials are correct - pick COMMON; otherwise type it. Set protocol to NTRIP. Save/confirm.
10. Start the correction stream: On the device row, tap the arrow/connect control to start NTRIP. QField shows incoming and outgoing arrows when the stream works. If it won't connect, re-check host, port, the mountpoint spelling (COMMON), and your credentials.
11. Turn on the accuracy / position display: In Positioning settings enable 'Show position information' and the accuracy indicator. QField then shows a coloured quality dot on the GNSS button - red/yellow/green - plus a position panel with current accuracy and fix quality.
12. Confirm an RTK fix and cm-level accuracy: Wait in open sky for the solution to converge. You're done when the panel reports an RTK fixed solution and \~1 - 2 cm horizontal accuracy with the quality dot green. Exact fix-type wording varies by version/receiver, but green + cm accuracy confirms RTK works.

### If the fix will not hold

QField needs internet (mobile data or Wi-Fi) to pull corrections. Behaviour varies by setup: on some receivers QField's own NTRIP client streams the corrections; on others (common on iOS, and with ArduSimple WiFi NTRIP Master) the NTRIP login is entered on the receiver or its companion app instead - the same caster values apply either way. Screen/button names differ between versions - match the nearest equivalent.
