# NovAtel SMART7

These steps connect a NovAtel SMART7 / OEM7 to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using NovAtel Application Suite (Connect) / host. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* NovAtel Application Suite (Connect) / host.
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Confirm your receiver and corrections account: These steps cover a NovAtel SMART7, SMART7-S, or any OEM7-based receiver (OEM719/OEM729 etc.) acting as an NTRIP rover. You'll need the per-customer NTRIP username and password from your welcome email - enter your own exactly; do not share them.
2. Get the receiver online: The NTRIP client needs an internet path. On a SMART7 this is normally Ethernet or its built-in Wi-Fi; on an OEM7 board it is the Ethernet/cellular interface your integration provides. Make sure the receiver has a working IP connection and clear sky. Network-setup wording varies by model/firmware.
3. Connect with NovAtel Application Suite (Connect) or a terminal: Connect using NovAtel Application Suite (replaced the older NovAtel Connect), the receiver Web UI, or a serial/IP terminal (e.g. PuTTY). The graphical tools give a guided NTRIP/correction screen; the terminal lets you type the commands below.
4. Note the fixed caster settings: Host (Endpoint): rtkpremium.xyz | Port: 2101 | Mountpoint: COMMON | Protocol: NTRIP. Only your username/password differ per customer.
5. Option A - Configure via Application Suite / Web UI: In the correction/positioning configuration, choose the NTRIP correction source and enter Endpoint rtkpremium.xyz with Correction Port 2101. After the endpoint is reached, the Mountpoint list should populate - select COMMON (type it if it doesn't appear). Enter your NTRIP Username/Password, and if asked for an NTRIP version choose v2 (fall back to v1 only if v2 won't connect). Field labels (Endpoint, Correction Port, Correction Type, Mountpoint) vary by firmware. Click APPLY.
6. Option B - Configure via NTRIPCONFIG command: On a network port (NCOM1), replace USERNAME/PASSWORD with your own: NTRIPCONFIG NCOM1 CLIENT V2 rtkpremium.xyz:2101 COMMON USERNAME PASSWORD . If v2 fails, retry with V1. The receiver logs in and pulls the COMMON stream.
7. Set the interface mode for the incoming corrections: Tell the receiver the corrections on that port are RTCM v3 (COMMON streams RTCM3): INTERFACEMODE NCOM1 RTCMV3 NONE OFF . (The Web UI sets this when you pick the correction type.)
8. Enable RTK and differential sources: Allow incoming RTK/differential corrections: RTKSOURCE AUTO ANY and PSRDIFFSOURCE AUTO ANY . In the graphical tools this is the equivalent of enabling the NTRIP/RTK source - usually automatic after APPLY.
9. Send your position back to the caster (required): Network RTK casters need the rover position via NMEA GGA. Enable it on the same port: LOG NCOM1 GPGGA ONTIME 5 . The graphical NTRIP setup normally enables this automatically.
10. Watch the solution converge: Add a position log: LOG BESTPOS ONTIME 1 (or watch the position/solution panel). On startup the solution type is typically SINGLE, then NARROW\_FLOAT (RTK float) as corrections arrive.
11. Confirm RTK Fixed (NARROW\_INT): Within \~10 - 60 s of receiving corrections, the BESTPOS solution/position type should reach NARROW\_INT - RTK Fixed, cm-level. In the graphical tools the position type reads RTK Fixed / NARROW\_INT.
12. Save the configuration: Persist so settings survive a power cycle: SAVECONFIG (or Save in Application Suite / Web UI). The receiver reconnects to the caster on next power-up.
13. If it will not reach RTK Fixed: Re-check Host (rtkpremium.xyz), Port (2101), Mountpoint (COMMON); confirm your username/password (case-sensitive); verify internet and clear sky; try switching NTRIP version v2/v1; confirm the interface mode matches the stream (RTCMV3). A stream stuck at NARROW\_FLOAT usually means GGA isn't reaching the caster - confirm the LOG ... GPGGA step.

### If the fix will not hold

Exact menu labels, NTRIP version handling, and network/Wi-Fi setup differ between SMART7 firmware, the Web UI, NovAtel Application Suite, and OEM7 board integrations - follow the equivalent control on your tool. The command examples (NTRIPCONFIG, INTERFACEMODE, RTKSOURCE, PSRDIFFSOURCE, LOG GPGGA, SAVECONFIG) are OEM7 commands using NCOM1 as the network port - your integrator may use a different NCOM port. NARROW\_INT = RTK Fixed.
