# Trimble Earthworks

Connect a Trimble Earthworks grade-control system to RTK Premium corrections over NTRIP.

These steps connect a Trimble Earthworks grade-control system to the Premium Positioning correction network over an internet NTRIP connection. They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account in the XYZ Platform.

* An Earthworks display with a working internet connection.
* No phone or hotspot in the field? If your controller or receiver takes a SIM, Premium Positioning [IoT SIMs](https://www.premium-positioning.com/products?utm_source=docs\&utm_medium=referral\&utm_campaign=docs\&utm_content=trimble-earthworks#iot-sims) give it its own data connection.
* The GNSS receiver configured for internet corrections.
* A clear view of the sky at the machine.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Open the correction source settings: In Earthworks, open the correction source settings.
2. Choose Internet (NTRIP): Select 'Internet (NTRIP)' as the correction method.
3. Create an NTRIP profile: Create a new NTRIP profile and enter rtkpremium.xyz as the server and 2101 as the port.
4. Enter your NTRIP username and password: Type your own credentials exactly as they appear in your welcome email. They are case-sensitive and unique to your account.
5. Select the mountpoint: Load the source table and select COMMON.
6. Set the correction format: If the profile asks for a correction format or network type, choose RTCM 3.x and VRS.
7. Apply and confirm RTK Fixed: Apply the profile and check that the system reaches 'RTK Fixed' before you start grading.

### If the fix will not hold

Earthworks versions and platforms, such as the EC520 and EC550, differ, so the correction-settings path on your machine may not match these labels exactly. The display needs a live internet connection while the machine works. If the source table will not load, recheck the server, the port and your credentials. If the system stays below RTK Fixed, confirm that COMMON is selected and that the receiver is set for internet corrections.
