# Bad Elf Flex / Flex Mini

These steps connect a Bad Elf Flex / Flex Mini to the Premium Positioning correction network over NTRIP, using Bad Elf GNSS Master app (+ a GIS app). They assume you already have your NTRIP credentials.

### Before you start

* Your NTRIP username and password, from your Premium Positioning welcome email or your account on the customer portal.
* Bad Elf GNSS Master app (+ a GIS app).
* A working internet connection on the controller or phone.
* A clear view of the sky at the point you are measuring.

### Network settings

These are the same for every Premium Positioning customer. Only your username and password are unique to you.

* Server or host: rtkpremium.xyz
* Port: 2101
* Mountpoint: COMMON
* Protocol: NTRIP

### Steps

1. Power on the Flex: Hold the power button until the Bad Elf Flex / Flex Mini powers up. Give it a clear view of the sky and, for best accuracy, mount it on a survey pole \~1 m or more above the ground to reduce multipath.
2. Pair over Bluetooth in OS settings first: Before opening any app, pair at the OS level: Settings > Bluetooth, pair the device named like 'Bad Elf Flex \[serial]', wait for 'Connected'. Pairing in the OS first is the most common fix for connection problems on iOS and Android.
3. Open the Bad Elf app: Launch the Bad Elf controller app (e.g. Bad Elf / GNSS Master). Select your connected Flex from the device list. App name/icons vary by version.
4. Open the corrections / NTRIP section: In the receiver settings find the corrections area ('Correction Mode', 'Corrections', or 'RTK Corrections') and choose NTRIP / 'RTK via NTRIP' > Network. (In GNSS Master this is the 'Corrections' page with Mode = 'NTRIP Client'.) Labels differ slightly by version.
5. Create a new NTRIP profile: Tap '+' to add a new NTRIP profile and name it e.g. 'Premium Positioning'.
6. Enter the caster host and port: Host: rtkpremium.xyz Port: 2101 Protocol: NTRIP. Double-check the host spelling.
7. Enter the mount point: Set the Mount point to COMMON (capitals). If the app offers a fetch-source-table button you can confirm COMMON is listed, but typing it manually is fine.
8. Enter YOUR NTRIP username and password: Enter the NTRIP username/password from your welcome email - unique to you. Don't use your website/portal login, and don't share them. If you can't find them, contact support.
9. Enable Send GGA: Turn on 'Send GGA' / 'Send NMEA GGA to base station' - the network is VRS-style and needs your approximate position to start streaming. Leave NTRIP version at the default unless told otherwise.
10. Save and connect: Save (or Done) to store the profile, select it, and tap Connect. The app logs in and feeds corrections to the Flex automatically.
11. Confirm RTK Fixed: Watch the solution status move Autonomous → DGPS/Float → 'RTK Fix' (\~1 - 2 cm). Wait for 'RTK Fix' before recording points - 'Float' is not yet survey-grade.
12. Set the Flex as your GIS app's location source: iOS: the Flex feeds Location Services automatically once connected - just keep the Bad Elf app connected and your GIS app uses the device location. Android: enable the receiver as the mock/location provider (turn on 'Mock location' after selecting the Bad Elf app in Developer Options), or use a direct app link (e.g. SW Maps) if your GIS app supports it. Confirm the GIS app reports cm accuracy.

### If the fix will not hold

Always pair over Bluetooth in OS settings before opening the app. Menu/button names differ between Bad Elf app versions and iOS vs Android - match the closest label. Keep a clear sky view and pole-mount the antenna. If you stay on Float, recheck the host spelling, that Send GGA is on, the mount point is exactly COMMON, and your credentials.
